The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has long had its offices in this building, which is connected to North York Civic Centre, and is adjacent to Mel Lastman Square on its northern periphery.
The property locates a small playground that is welcoming to families visiting the TDSB who have small children. Mel Lastman Square is also a nice place to take a stroll, play a game, or grab a snack from a street vendor and have a picnic. There is even a skating rink open to the public in the wintertime.
On the other side of Mel Lastman Square you can find the North York City Centre complex which is a mixed-use development containing a 2-level retail concourse, hotel, office towers, and a public library. It is directly connected by an underground walkway to the TTC subway station and Empress Walk on the opposite side of Yonge Street.
At Empress Walk there is even more retail including a grocery store, and residential condominiums.
